On a board
1. When choosing a seat, remember for your own comfort: the back row does not recline, and, if you plan to read while traveling at night, the very front seats do not have working overhead lights. If you like to get up and down a lot, you might want to choose an isle seat to avoid bothering any passenger that might sit next to you. If you don't like to get up and down a lot, you might prefer a window seat to avoid being bothered.
2. Be prepared some bus terminals have security check points just like the airlines and it takes time to get through them. They can search through your bags if they want to. If you have something valuable or possible of getting broken ship ahead of time don't try and take it on the bus. Your just opening the door for misery.
3. Any time the bus stops, know that it will depart without you if you are not back before the scheduled time. Make no mistake - the driver will not wait for you, nor will any belongings you leave in your seat or on the overhead racks be removed. If the bus makes a stop to pick up new passengers, those already on that coach will get to reboard ahead of new people (make sure you get a reboarding ticket from your driver before exiting the coach during the stop). If you miss the reboarding call, someone just may end up in your seat, leaving you stuck at the terminal to wait for the next bus.
4. Baggage is the passengers responsibility. If you change buses you must get your bags and see that they get loaded on the next bus. Never assume your bags are being moved always watch them load your bag into the baggage compartment. Many people have lost bags cause they didn't follow through.
5. Even if you do put your bag under the bus, you can keep track of it since you are the one to transfer it from one bus to the next. After you pick it up after the luggage handler has set it next to the bus, put your suitcase in the line for the gate, chat with one of the people standing in line along with you, ask "Would you mind watching this for a second?" and then go to the bathroom.
6. If you do bring your toothbrush and toothpaste into the breakfast stop bathroom, don't forget them there.
7. Enjoy the scenery as you roll by.
